TutorChimps is an online platform where persons with exceptional ability in specific subject areas, including experienced teachers, can tutor students and learners from around the world at all stages.Teachers plan their lessons and set their own schedules. Learners can then book one of the available sessions based on the time slot that suits them best.
Anyone with appropriate qualifications in the subject area they are planning to tutor, teaching experience and/or valid teaching credentials; can apply to become a tutor.
Tutors can teach any subject they are qualified and experienced in. This includes all academic subjects, ESL (English as a Second Language), modern languages, test preparation, and more.
You’ll need proof of completing secondary education, teaching credentials (where applicable), or any other qualifications and/or certifications as specified in our Our Skills Requirements Page.

N.B. Early childhood learning and development applies to the years 0-8 (UNICEF). We require all Tutors tutoring any stage that includes the early education and development years to have training or certification in Early Childhood Education & Development . For avoidance of doubt, this would include Kindergarten and Elementary grades 1 to 3

Yes, tutors are expected to create and customize lesson plans based on the subject area that they will be tutoring and the specific topics within the curriculum they are covering for the specific stage. This applies to pre-planned sessions based on the subject curriculum. For ad hoc sessions (free form sessions where the student is asking for help in their selected topic or numerous topics), a lesson plan won’t necessarily be needed; except where the tutor is advised in advance on the specific topic/s by the student.
In order to remain competitive, Tutors are allowed to set their own rates based on a minimum recommended by TutorChimps. To remain competitive, and based on market rates, we recommend the following:
Individual Sessions:
Minimum $3000 JMD per student for 30 mins*
Minimum $4000 JMDper student for 60 mins**
Group Sessions:
Minimum $2000 JMD per student for groups of 2 to 8students for 30 mins*
Minimum $3000 JMD per student for groups of 2 to 8students for 60 mins**
Groups cannot exceed 8 students
* Early Childhood(Age 3 to Grade 3): 30 MINS
**PRIMARY/ELEMENTARY AND ABOVE (Grade 4 and higher): 60 MINS
The platform fee of 30% will be deducted from whatever fee is charged.
TutorChimps deducts a small percentage of 30% from each session fee to cover platform operations and support. This charge also covers the fee to the financial institution provider for processing the transactions.
All the sessions held are automatically logged by the platform, so you do not need to track these manually yourselves.This is one of the great benefits of using our platform. You will have a dashboard and your own admin area where you can manage all the details and information for your service.
While tutors are responsible for sourcing and creating their own materials, TutorChimps provides access to a shared Resource Bank specifically for tutors.
